Brent - I for one, am really pleased for you! You have hung in there for so long and you are probably the most consistant fisherperson on Ausfish and Friday it all came to fruition . Well worth the wait!
I have been in the US for the last month and a half, so I have pigged out on Fri, Sat, Sun and today despite the blustering southerlies. I sure didn't do as well as you and I was one of the very few souls at Secret Spot Alpha.
Sincere congrats again Brent - you deserve it.
Cheers
Neil
G,Day Neil, I was wondering where you disappeared to.
Mate its been a dream come true and i hope i can better the 6 kilo sometime in the future.
All good things come to those who wait and i'm sure you will find a big old snapper one day soon mate.
You must have been hanging out for a fish going out in these conditions..lol
Cheers Brent

Well done Brent, who said size doesn't matter!!!
You have done the hard yards & racked up the miles, great to see you rewarded with a big one![]()
Only problem is you may have peaked a bit to early for the river to mud![]()
Peter
Excellent catch there Brent thats what fishing is all about. You have put in the time and have been blown away many times but this time you got it top stuff
All the best for landing that 10 Kilo snapper in the future
Just one question how many eggs exactly did you remove from spawning in the future?
Just kidding
It's all part of the fishing experience![]()
80cm and 6kg eh yeh thats about right for a summer snapper.
good work on the light gear how high the pulse get ?
champion very jelous guess ill have to keep trying and tips on method?retrieve used?
Vertico i can tell you the pulse was racing at the time.
Lumox the best tips i can give you is to have patience and just get out as often as possible.
Method; cast ahead of your drift and weight your plastic according to how much tidal run.
It needs to get to the structure but drift down slowly.
Back your drag off when you see colour.
Tinn i'm sure it was a male so no worries about the million eggs.
Mate believe me there's only about 2 kilo of meat and rest is head and frame.
Cheers Brent
Congratulations Brent on a fine fish. Myself and fellow ausfisher Mark were out there as well but only caught a 49cm and 39cm version. As you said it was a bit slow. We headed in at 9 sounds like we should have stayed longer.
It is amazing to me how different plastics work on different days. First 12 months fishing plastics at mud i always used the pumpkinseed minnow worm and grub. Now I am finding more success with different plastics like some atomic shrimps, nuclear chicken minnows.
By reading your article it sounds like our mistake on good friday was not going heavy enough with the jig head. we kept using the 1/6.
Anyway once again congratulations on the nice snapper. Like you i am also looking for that elusive 10 kilo fish specimen .
cheers craig
nice catch mate![]()

Well done mate.
