great catch Brent,
Howdy Ausfishers, Steven and I had a squire session today around Grreen, St Helena and Mud.
Green produced a few legal squire for myself and Steven managed a nice 55cm specimen.
Next stop St Helena where we encountered more legals that went back and after 30 minutes the call was made to hit Mud.
The wind was against tide and the fishing dead at Mud for the first hour but we proceeded to wait patiently for the big bite.
Drifting the 10 metre where i have seen big fish caught over the past few weekends we patiently waited for that bite.
Then it happened zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzz
bump zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz half the spool gone.
" um Steve i think we better chase this fellow before i lose more line"
We had seen longtails working the area early morning and i thought snapper or longtail????????
Steve was confident it was a snapper and after a five minute fight he nets my first trophy snapper of 80cms and 6.2 kilos.
Graham (Foggy) was close by and after a chat i was seriously considering releasing the fish.
The guys said its your first big snapper and i thought to myself yes why not keep 1 trophy snapper and release future big fellas if i'm lucky enough to catch any.
Ive seen all my mates catch there trophy snapper and now i can say YE HA i'M IN THE Foggy 5 kilo club at long last !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers Brent

great catch Brent,
Congratulations Aquarius!
You made no mention of your bait so I am assuming that it was caught on something like pilchards. Right?
Very well done!
Some nice fish Brent. Congrats on the Trophy. Really hoping to try and get stuck into em this Winter myself. Just hoping the finances come up in time to get the rig. Cheers,
Rich
very well done 80 cm's more that the snapper i have caught. very nice snap and good report.
Bout bloody time mate. It was great to be on hand to see you actually get your first one over 5kg!
The high fives and the smiles said it all. Well done mate, and nice driving Steven.
Now you just need to repeat it for the R2M.
Steven. Can you email the photo you took of my boat?
Welcome to the club Brent

Charleville as much as i would like to say i caught it on my favourite Zoom Plastic i had a change today and was using a 4" blue/green berkley power bait on a 1/4 oz nitro jighead.
Forgot to mention in my report the plastic was swallowed and i was worried about the 12lb leader breaking.
Gee these things sure go hard on light gear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bring on the River to Mud Challenge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers Brent
G'day Brent
Good for you, great catch there.
I've also been wondering, where do you get your zoom plastics from?
Dave

Hey Brent, Top work mate - I was too lazy to get out there myself today - and now wont make it out till the noise of the billion or so boats that must be out there have quietened down. Congrats on the PB - I would have kept it too - you dont PB everyday!!
Adam
Well done brent, there is no mistaking a good snap by the way they fight is there, its bang bang bang, you feel every headshake and feel them crunching the jighead through the line, all you can do is hold the rod up and hope, and brent!! good on you for thinking of releasing it, i commend you for that, when you see just how little flesh comes off her you will see how its a good thing to let the big ones go, next time mate and trust me you will love the feeling.
Thats a dam good snapper, Well done . Wasn't a bad day on the water.Congrads again on that fish.
Mate since you fell over the fence, you've put in the hard work, and the rewards had to come.
Congrats on a nice fish
