Howdy Ausfishers, Steven and I had a squire session today around Grreen, St Helena and Mud.
Green produced a few legal squire for myself and Steven managed a nice 55cm specimen.
Next stop St Helena where we encountered more legals that went back and after 30 minutes the call was made to hit Mud.
The wind was against tide and the fishing dead at Mud for the first hour but we proceeded to wait patiently for the big bite.
Drifting the 10 metre where i have seen big fish caught over the past few weekends we patiently waited for that bite.
Then it happened zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzz
bump zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz half the spool gone.
" um Steve i think we better chase this fellow before i lose more line"
We had seen longtails working the area early morning and i thought snapper or longtail????????
Steve was confident it was a snapper and after a five minute fight he nets my first trophy snapper of 80cms and 6.2 kilos.
Graham (Foggy) was close by and after a chat i was seriously considering releasing the fish.
The guys said its your first big snapper and i thought to myself yes why not keep 1 trophy snapper and release future big fellas if i'm lucky enough to catch any.
Ive seen all my mates catch there trophy snapper and now i can say YE HA i'M IN THE Foggy 5 kilo club at long last !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers Brent
