    Re: jew on plastics

There are many SP'S that will catch Jew.
6 inch shads and minnows are big Jew takers....Its more about finding where the Jew are and targeting them on the slack water.
They arent that fussy and will hit most plastics if it comes past there nose.

    Cheers

Jews where I fish arent picky at all, and the lures I use get bigger and bigger all the time I will eventually start using 9inch minnows soon (minnows drop a little faster and straighter than paddle tails)

A whole heap of my jews in the beginning were caught with 4inch power minnows so that would be a good start if u were looking for something to use

As for hard bodies, IMO you can not go past RMG scorpian 150mm. I fish for them all the time and have the most sucess with them. see http://www.ausfish.com.au/vforum/sho...d.php?t=107547 . And that was only one of three so for this week.

I use snap backs for Jews, they dont get chewed up as quick as gulps.

all good info, thanks one & all.
Any technioque, line class & leader info you'd care to share esp off the headlands / rocks?
    BTW
Do you think there is a room @ the SP factory where they sit around all day wrenching b*ngs & thinking up names for the new models?
drop bears indeed. I wish I'd thought of it.

Yeah, it doesn't look anything like a Drop Bear!! We used to have to be careful around trees when I used to live out west. They would see you coming and fall on you.
I use 10kg line off the rocks when I feel like a bit of fun and 13.6kg (30lb) when the surfs up cause they go a bit harder. I have been known to use 4.5kg braid at times which is a good challenge, especially on 20kg+ jew, but it can be done. Good for a heartstarter.
I used to use heavy mono leaders but the lure action suffered from it and breakages on the teethy end were common. Use plastic coated wire now. I use different techniques for the conditions. It all works around water temp. moon phase, conditions + food supply as to where the jew will be located.
G'day jewienewie, long time no hear. Will have to catch up with you one day. cheers, steve.
