There's nothing wrong with keeping 1 or 2 impoundment bass, wether they're 30cm or 50cm+ IMO. But as Leigh77 already said, they don't exactly top the list of tasty fish. Anyway, great bass scoocer, keep them coming!

well done mate i hope you get some more big one,s , me to
figjam
How has it earnt the right to live any more than a 30cm fish other than older. Its not like its going to breed or be of significant genetic importance (it came from the same brood stock as all the other fish in there). I don't eat fresh water fish, i've tried yellowbelly a few times and didn't enjoy it but there are many people who do. I would however contemplate keeping a bass that size to be mounted as a trophy. Its as big as bass get and its highly unlikely that anyone else would ever catch it again before it died of old age.
Each to their own, I happen to think that bass cook up really well, and I am a big fan of eating them. Of course the bag limit is 2, but I normally only take home 40cm + specimens ( only from impoundments as I wouldn't keep wild fish )and they come up great either in the oven or fried.
And my fairer half and some of my friends who have tried bass all seem to rate it well as a table fish.
my 2 cents
Chris
Chris,
My mate who caught the bass I ate insisted on cooking it himself and he's hardly a brilliant chef. So maybe thats why it didnt taste the best . I'll try another one...but cook it myself this time!
cheers,
Tim.

I guess my beliefs are just stronger than most people on here...I have fished for Bass for the past 14 years and in that time I have never killed one. A 50cm+ is the benchmark for Bass (Same as 1mtr+ being the benchmark for Barra)...its special.
I dont like hearing about any size Bass meeting its end on the dinner table, but a 50cm+ just makes my cringe.
