I was planning on doing a bimini double in the braid then running a 100lb knotted dog leader joined via a loop to loop connection......Is this the best set up....?
Then when using the knotted 100lb leader is it best to crimp on your popper as when using fluro for your knotted leaders it becomes bulky and hard to tie?......
    Ideas please?

    Thanks

You have the right idea. You may also want to try making your own twisted leaders - i don't trust many things that are straight from the packet.

Making my own, i attach a swivel before ending the twisted leader. This allows me to attach a split ring - making changing lures and the connection itself a breeze.

I haven't seen a knotted dog so i can't comment on how to connect it. I have heard of anglers crimping a single stand to the twisty then using a 4-turn Uni knot to the lure.

    Hi Luke,

    Mate thanks for the reply.
I make my own twisted leaders with a drill but how do you put a swivel on first?
I use a clip with a snapper weight on it and slide it down when I am ready for it to twist and this then leaves you with a small loop for your loop to loop connection................But the other ends are twisted still single strands....
    If that makes sense...

    Cheers

    Hi Pete,

I like to make what is called a 'bite leader'. Before i finish the leader, i leave a certain amount of twisty so that i can twist it back on to itself (i like to use around 6 inches). Tie a quick overhand knot just to secure, thread on your swivel, then proceed to weave the leader back through itself the length that you want the bite leader to be. Finish by using nail knots to secure - pull hard to secure and then a dab of super glue.

Alternatively, you could thread a swivel on and just tie a uni knot on the end without the bite leader.
