Went for a run this morning and it was picture perfect on the bay, you could feel the change of seasons with a southwest wind blowing around 5 knots, anyway the bay was alive with tuna, everywhere you looked the bay was exploding with tuna smashing baitfish, i got to one of my spots in the dark so i slipped on a 4 inch swimming mullet gulp in white and got belted by a 37cm squire first cast, second cast i latched onto a real brute who fought dirty, after taking a fair bit of line he doubled back on me and swam at boat ( to ram me maybe lol) and although i reeled like hell he wrapped my braid around some structure and when i felt his weight again it snapped and he was gone, anyway i landed around 8 more good squire and kept 2 to eat with biggest at 48cm and had a visit from water police to finish the day, oh and im finding for shallower water the swimming gulp 4 inch mullet mated with lighter heads is better for avoiding snaggs than the minnows.
(to the young fella i met at the ramp last week from capalaba !! give us a message and we will have a throw one morning)
