    Boat Seat Installation

    Hi All,

Does anyone know how to fix box seats to fibreglass boat floors? ie. What type of bolts / screws to use and how do they actaully hold on the boat floor and do i need to use the special marine silicon for waterproofing?

I am actually thinking of making my own box bases for storage and attach them to the boat floor. Then affix a seat with a metal swivel on top of it.

    Thanks.

fibaglass it in, sand back the flowcoat where the seat box is to go (inside the box and outside), then lay it up with 3 layers of 600g matt starting with a strip that goes on the floor about 1" then onto the floor about 1". Next layer you go 2" on both, third layer go about 3". Doing it this way wou will end up with a nice seamless join and the water will run away from the seat boxes. The 3 layers will give you about 3mm of glass in the corner. Doing this inside and out and they will never move and be water tight.
    cheers
