    small tinnie mooloolaba

I have been waiting for the weather to get calm to have my first trip out at mooloolaba offshore. I have a 4.2 stessco catcher rv. Looking to hit some of the closer reefs. My main question is, How calm do i need.

Should i be waiting for the swell to get under 1.5m or only worry about the wind????
    any tips would be helpfull

my advise would be to do your first trip in the company of another boat, someone who has done it few times in smallish boats. it won't take too many trips for u to decide what's small enough for u and your boat. as the winter offshore winds approach there'll be plenty of good days for a 4.2m tinnie.

Yeah i agree with gelsec.... i took my 4.1m aquamaster tinnie out to inner gneerings from mooloolaba just before new years for the first time.... crappy weather decent swell with about 15 - 20knts on top of it... but i'd had my boat offshore double island a few times and knew it's capabilities..... just gotta get to know how your boat handles offshore... offshore swell and eustuary chop 2 completely different kettles of fish....anyway that's my 2 cents worth... andfor the record i'm a lot more comfortable offshore in my 4.1m tinnie then i am my old man's 17ft half cab.....
