Stopping Sikaflex 291 going off in Nozzel?
I only use a little bit of Sikaflex 291 from the tube each time i use it.
The next time I go to use the same tube I find, no matter how well i seal the nozzel it has set inside the nozzel.
I seem to waist more from the nozzel than i actually use. I've tried plugging it, tapeing it and both without success.
Any thoughts would be great.
Cheers,
Scott

That just sh!ts me as well. Just today I bought a "Caulk Saver" screw in plastic plug to try out. Its supposedly reuseable, but we'll see.
might work on no more gaps or silicon, but who knows with the 291 sealant.
cheers

Make sure the tube stays as cool as possible.
If I had a bait /beer fridge, I would keep it in there.
Bu$$a of a problem, damn frustrating!
Cheers and good luck.

The best way I found is to at the end of the job squirt an inch long bit out the end and leave it there- then each week pull it off this will pull the plug inside as well then repeat, if you forget for 2 weeks it's game over for that nossel.
Will be interested in more permanent ideas. I think humidity sets this stuff off.

I use silicone and sikaflex all the time at work with glass and there is nothing that really works on the throw away tubes so all we do is replace the nozzel each time, you could get a handful at bunnings for a couple of bucks, but the best way to go is a cartrige type caulking gun that takes the sausage tubes, you actually cut the bag open and squease the sikaflex into the gun, these have a screw on cap that is air tight

I put mine in the fridge, often thought the freezer in the bait fridge would be the go

I keep mine in the fridge. Sikaflex, silicon and some other bathroom sealer all in the crisper of the beer fridge, never goes off.

Use one nossle, first time you use it,leave it full, and as somone else said, have spare nossles.
Remove the hard one when you get back to use it again, and fit a new one.
When you are finished, remove the new one,and refit the original hard one.Works like a cap, or lid
I always leave enough work , to do, to push out the sealer from the new nossle, after I take it off the tube.
A spare nossle, blocked off, makes a great pusher, to clear the Sikaflex, from the one you removed.

Re: Stopping Sikaflex 291 going off in Nozzel?
Why can they just not make a smaller sized tube?
When I have to fix a single screw I basically waste a complete tube. Why not have smaller tubes available? The manufacturer who will bring a little 20 ml single use tube to market will make a killing with the "do-it-yourself" crowd.

Wessel, I couldn't agree more they do it with superglue. Why not something the size of a small toothpaste tube for the home users.
Use and through away.
Thanks for all the other comments. Will put in the fridge or freezer.

I use a macka's straw on the nozzle and push about 50mm up the straw it lasts for ages before it goes off in the nozzle
