Don't 'blow the bank' mate. You'll likely end up with a whole lot of stuff you didn't want and can't use. Think about the type of fishing you'll be doing, the species targeted, then buy a setup suitable for that. You mentioned boat fishing. That covers a whole lot of territory. Depending on the boat (and the weather) you could be fishing for whiting in the southern bay channels or for who knows what in the open northern bay. If you go too heavy in the first instance, you'll never be able to use the rod for light stuff, you'll never even feel the bites. So put some thought into what type of fishing you'll likely be doing mostly, and buy to suit. If you walk into a tackle shop with no budget, you'll spend all your money and come away with too much junk. Not that I've ever done anything like that.
