Hi All,
I would like to get my 25L tote tank up the front of the boat to give me better weight distribution when by myself. It will fit under the front casting deck but only when the tank is on it's side.
It can be positioned so that the pickup/fuel fitting is down and the filler/vent is top corner. Has anyone done this before? and were there problems?
The only problem I can see is with the tank needing to be vented, fuel may squirt out the vent.
Doesn't sound like a real good idea. Maybe a custom made alloy or stainless tank would be the better option, depends how much you want to spend I guess. There are lots of different shape and size of tote tanks, so maybe shop around and find one that will fit the right way.
some of the newer motors and tanks very rarely leak, as they only vent when the hose is connected, but you will just have to see how it goes I guess, but a fuel leak is not a good thing! maybe you can tilt it up a tad to get the cap up a bit higher??
Thanks for the replies, I'll probably fill the tank out of the boat, put it on it's side and see if there are any leaks or not, I'll give it a bit of a roll around too.
Will look at cost of custom tank also Dave as this would be ideal just depends on $
