The new rig... yep it's a cat

I've hardly had time for sleep in the last few months being short staffed at work but somehow in the middle of a living hell i've managed to purchase a new( second hand) boat. It's a 1990 5.2 m kevla cat that's been repowered with high thrust yammi 60 fourstrokes (200 hours) Once i saw it i new i would have to be quick as they dont hang around for long, all said and done i'm a very happy boy !!

    Here's a pic or 2

Ps. the might ub 520 will be appearing in the for sale section soon

not a lot to driving a cat once you get the hang of it all, especially one of those, they are very "forgiving" and with 60HP will not be a high speed racer (but still OK power, don't get me wrong)

Have you had ehr out yet Ian?

How are the Yammies? You dont find it a tad under powered do you? Anyway, what a sweet boat, half your luck mate, enjoy her.

Only had it out once, it was a very ordinary day off the goldy which is the perfect day for a trial. It ate up the sloop and didn't seem under powered at all on the ocean. It doesn't have a very hich top speed at around 30 knots but sits nicely at 24 knots at 4200 rpm which is a good offshore speed.

There are alot around running the same engine combo withh good feed back.

    Ps.

There is a amazing amout of room in it for a 5.2 meter boat

there is a lot of room in them, mainly because with pods, the motors are not really "in the boat" in you get what I mean, and a cat being more or less square means you get a nice wide beam at the front as well as the stern, and nothing as stable as a cat to fish out of, been in one of those heaps of times, my mate had one with 90HP Yammies on it, went really good and they are so light (the motors that is)

The Kevlacats are an easily driven hull, so 60 / 70 hp is fine.

Thehull is not like a sharkcat that has the extra weight and can be driven harder.

The new Noosacats are the same....

It's no problem to stick the rods in the holders at all!!! Isn't it good being 6'3.

there is only 16 rod holders on the boat including the rocket launcher, so you might be right
