    Noosa River Jacks....25-03-07

Well....yesterday arvo I got a call from Benny (fish_on) who was fired up for a Jack session at the spot I landed my last good fish on a live poddie mullet.
We decided to leave the lures and plastics at home and just throw livies out and do it lazy style... .
Just on dark Ben's reel lets off that noise we love....zzzzzzzz....hook up with a
good little fight and Benny lands a 35cm jack.....Not the biggest but a nice Jack anyway.About 15 minutes later Danielle (Bens Mrs) has her rod bent nearly in half and a brutal fight on her hands.....She did exetremely well and landed an awesome Jack at 48cm....She was stoked... .
Next up my reel took off and I landed a small fella at 33cm.
All went quiet...for 5 minutes when Benny had a screaming hit and run and a solid hook up....next thing bang!...the braid snapped with the best shotgun noise I have heard for a while..... .....He wasnt happy!
Continued to fish and Danielle landed another small one in the thirties and then Benny took revenge as he had another screaming hit, dirty fight and landed an awesome Jack at 50cm.....He was a happy man.
While I was taking photos of Bens fish My rod was belted and I was on landing a Jack at 46cm........giving us the opporunity of a quick double photo.
It was seriously a crazy night and we ended up landing 6 jacks. All fish were caught land based and ALL fish were released to fight again!............Sorry if pics look a little funny but I had to touch up the background....

    Cheers

What a sesh boy's (and girl)!!! Don't blame ya for cammo'ing the pics Pete. The spot would be raped and pillaged in no time otherwise. Good pics too mate, that 1 with you and Benny should go "straight to the poolroom".What braid and linestrength was Benny fishing?

    Cheers

Hey Pistol, maybe the reason for such a good session was because of the approaching storm.
"We gave Howard the Arse now we have to fix Rudd"
"Now we have to sort Gillard" F@?k me RUDD again
Abbott and Newman what a great next few years "NOT"

Awesome stuff . looks like the weather has been good down there and the jacks are on the go.
I have been using mustud big mouth 2/0 hooks and lip hooking the mullet to catch my fish. Have you been hooking your mullet in the tail section behind the dorsal or in the head region.

I have found the wide gape hooks to hook the fish in the side of the jaw necely and althouth the hooks are fine gauge when fishing smaller muller baits the hook dosnt tire them out to much or weight them down. Even caught a 70cm barra on them although I took him easy in fear of straightening the hook.

    Cheers
