i was thinking a cale cale trevally but the pectoral fins are about 5-10cm to long compared to the pictures of cale cales ive found in books
fishingnoosa website called it a turrum
Bring on the Marlin!!!
Thats an awesome trevor for the river mate....well done.
Those broad bars would be good on the light gear too!
my first impression it looks like a turrum. havnt seen one of those for a while. last one i saw was pistol pete nailed one in woods bay. cale cales to me are a bit stumpier sort of trev they only grow max about 660 this one has the length to it.
Amonline has cale cale's max length of 900:

Saw ya picture on the davo's web site....they are calling it a turrum...
Lovely looking fish mate, I'll be chasing those in a couple of weeks time living in my mates house on Woods Bay.
frankgrimes i just went off the bible mate. grants guide to fishes
caught plenty of turrum up north and they didn't look anything like this one?
Definitely a cale cale, have caught one in the river before but not quite that size... its a ripper. Mackeral in the river... whats next, we caught a jevunile cobia in there last year.... its such an awesome spot. Another tip when the trevs are boiling on the surface, go for a stick bait softie like a 3" poerwbait or something and with a jighead to get u some distance cast and just crank it in erraticalley jsut below the surface... dont worry u cant wind to fast. Had a heap of success there with this technique!
I see what you mean Philip. Beautiful fish. Well done mate.
