What is the Aussie record for Redfin (english perch)?
Hi all you Aussie Dudes and Babes, does anyone know what the largest Redfin ever caught in Australia weighed? or more importantly are there any photos of large specimens on any websites?
I hear rumours that they can grow to 5kilos over there and in New Zealand. I know you regard them as only a table fish but I am a member of a group of anglers in England called the PERCHFISHERS and we enjoy catching specimen perch over here ( over 1kg ) the record is currently 5lb 15oz (just under 3kg) any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Brian,
I live at Wagga 100kl from Blowering Dam in southern NSW, there are a lot of big redfin caught there each year & at Hume Dam at Albury. I have seena picture of a reported 7lb rediie caught last year at blowering there are some good ones to be caught, but a lot of tiddlers too.
Re: What is the Aussie record for Redfin (english perch)?
I have caught a few in the 4-5lb class, with my biggest weighed at 2.35 kg=5.18lbs. Several caught in the 3-4 lb bracket. All caught in northern NSW at Glen Innes.

After some extensive research I thought I would report my findings so far....
For those interested it looks like the 7lb fish caught at Blowering dam last year would be the unofficial Aussie record. The biggest Redfin photographed that is on any web site or forum that I can find is a fish of 5lb 8oz from lake Toolondo a few years ago.
