Just bought a new explorer dome tent. Just wondering if I need to put a tarp over it in case of rain, or do they normally hold off the bad weather pretty well.
Regards
Ben.

Id stick a tarp up mate, will give you some shade as well as keep the rain and bird/bat/bug poo off the tent.
Cheers and beers

Hi Ben, most tents will keep light rain and dew off. But personally, a tarp is a must. They help keep the animals from grafitying the tent, stop water gettin in if a storm comes your way and also help keep the tent cooler. Also, if you get a big enough tarp you can extend it out the front of your tent to give you a shaded area to prepare/eat meals and sit down in the afternoon watching the sun set with a beer in your hand.
They can be a pain to set up, but after you do it once you won't want to be without it.
