Spinnerbaits for Barra

Hello everyone. I am interested in the types of spinnerbaits people have used for impoundment (or saltwater) barra. That is, which ones will stand up to a barra hooked on the end? I have had good success with the TT Vortexes for bass, yellow belly etc but I imagine I need to upgrade for barra. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

AusSpin do some big native SB's that handle a fair bit of punishment as there fitted with 6/0 hooks. Been plenty of barra landed on smaller gauge hooks around the place. The TT Vortex SB's will land plenty but the bigger Barra will make mince meat out of them unless they do a HD job??. Bassman have a few HD ones as well!

seen some fairly heavy ones from bassman, was up in cairns the other week and bumped into someone who'd nailed a couple of 60lb tinaroo horses on spinnerbaits recently but he wouldn't let on which ones.....

Thanks for the info Wheezer and Les. I will check out the Bassman ones and see if anything looks suitable.

Glenn from Bassman will actually custome make a spinnerbait, within reason, to the way you want them. Well he used to. Damn nice bloke too. Camped with him last year at the ABT comp at Boondooma, where he won the non boater division. Auspin also make some HD spinnerbaits. There is a website that sells them at very good prices too. Have no connections to the site, but if you want to know what it is, drop me a PM, as I don't want to be barred from this site. Just playing it safe guys.

hi last cast .I met a bloke at our club meeting the other day he was there to promote his spinner baits and he had just got back from awonga were they managed too get a 104 cm barra 12hits and lost a rod to a monster that smashed the rod holder he's in Toowoomba if u would like his number just pm me and Ill pass it on and u can have chat with him
