    Boat access camping on Moreton

Well, just to rub a little salt into the wounds already caused by SEAHUNTER, I too will be heading over to moreton for 5 days camping next week.

I do wish to draw on the vast experience of you fellow Ausfishers if you are able to answer a few questions. I will be heading to the campgrounds half way between Ben-Ewa and Comboyuro in the north west camping zone. I have heard that this becomes quite a busy area during the holidays for campers that have headed to Moreton via boat.
    1. Is this a relatively safe place to anchor a small boat (14' Cruise Craft Rogue).
    2. Is there a sharp drop off from shore so as not to have the boat beached at low tide (eg. sand hills area).
    3. Are the campsites in this area close to the warter?
    4. Are there any other suggested areas that should be investigated or have been used (except the Tangalooma wrecks area).
Many thanks for your assistance in advance.

    1. Yes it is safe, have had friends do the same many times and saw lots of boats there last year
    2. Alond some areas it does get deep pretty quickly, do a quick check with the depth sounder to make sure
    3. You can see your boat from most of the camp sites along that stretch of beach
    4. Not with a boat, you need the western side of the island and I think you got it right with the area already

PS: Might be going over on the 4th of April, if you are still there keep an eye out for a new white hilux with canopy. Ausfish stickers on the sides of the bullbar & H&M Geotechnical on the canopy windows.

Thanks very much for the info Brett.

I contacted the EPA yesterday and they stated that this was by far the best area.

If I'm still there on the 4th I'll keep an eye out for you. Just look for a white Cruise Craft Rogue with Tohatsu outboard and a couple of well relaxed blokes sitting under a tarp with beer in hand.

    Thanks again
