    Access for Live Bait Tank

    Hello People.

Attahced is a photo of a moulded rear quat seat in a haines 530SLR.

I want to insert a live bait tank on the floor underneath this area so will want to cut a large hole for access in this rear quart fiberglass area.

Will I be affecting structural rigidity in any way?

    Thanks

one thing to remember on a fairly deep V like that is how much weight you are going to put on one side, right at the stern! better off if possible to mount in the middle of the stern, but of course this can be inconvenient and not possible, but just think about it.

geees I did not know I was a rhyming poet on that post, hhmm maybe I have a (very) hidden talent! back to the question then, a deep/deepish V will inherantly be a tad "tender" at rest, and weight right at the stern can easily cause a "lopsided" rest, so only as a suggestion, can you locate the tank on the centreline? I doubt if it will cause any real safety issue, but most any one side weight can cause drama when under way with the wind on the "off" side, as well as unequal stabilty when fishing or whatever you intend to do.

    Thanks Noel.

Your poems were very good I must say!

I will look into relocating the tank elsewhere thanks mate!

But back to the question=no it will not affect it structuraly.1 litre =1kilo or there abouts so you might have to shuffle things around to get the balance right

    Thanks Jimbo.

I can take some heart knowing this now.

    Attached are four photos

Noel - Not that I am doubting your opinion of this hull being deep vee (>20 degrees), I thought my hul lwas medium vee (15-19 degrees)..

    Confirmmation would be good.

    Thats not real big ?
If the bait is swiming around it might be hard to catch !

I could barely get my aquarium net in thru that. I use one to pull yellowtail out of my tank.

In terms of the boats structure. Yes, it probably would affect it in some way. How much or how little im not sure. I think i saw a ski pole there. Make sure that if you still use it that you dont cut into the surrounding area too much. A plate of stainless or alloy for reinforcing would help if you are worried.

    cheers

I dont know how many degrees my vee is so this is why I am asking you guys..

I have seen other vees on other boats with steeper (deeper) vees that mine.

No use of the ski pole will be used - probably take off..
