Camped at Munna Point over night and took a 12 k paddle around a few inshore haunts on Saturday - but for no result. Did see some good bait schools being worked by Trevs - but couldn't get a strike.
Sunday am - hit the water by 5am and after a good look - decided to take on the Noosa Bar. We saw a few boats turning back, but decided if some other kayakers could manage it - then so could we.
Made it over the bar and droped in a gold bomber each - my Mrs hooked up nearly instantly on a 65 cm spotty. Didn't put up much of a fish, and we thought it may be under sized so we released it.
We trolled over to halls reef - to no result despite the number of large bait boils being worked by macks and tuna. But nothing we could do got another hook up. She decided to retire for the day - whilst I paddled on and around the bay chasing the bait boils - but got zip for a total of 15 kilometers paddled today.
Damm - 2nd time my Mrs has out fished me in 2 weeks. Last week she got a 70cm kingfish, but that was foul hooked, so we released that too. Gonna have to improve my game here.
There were about 5 jet-skiers making the return over the bar very interesting. Would like to say that there were some crap heads at the camp site trying to keep a 10cm bream despite my telling them it was against the law . I did mention to the that I have the EPA's phone number in my phone. Didn't see them with a line in after that.
Idiots like that will have the Noosa river turned into a marine park.
Still great to have paddled so far and conquered the bar.
