gobos over anything....
Hey Hardb8,
The Quick Bees are dynamite, give 'em a go. I've caught fish on both colours, but the black one is my fave. It's fully battered, the feathers have been smashed off it and it's all scratched up. But it still consistently pulls fish, and is the 1st lure tied on at the start or end of the day. Caught loads of bass, including my PB fish and has claimed a few toga as well. The Gobo's are performing really well at the moment though, with the fish feeding pretty hard on shrimp currently. The smaller profile seems to be hitting paydirt lately.
Cheers

Tiges,
Nice pics m8.The first pic must be the Genral Patton of the Bass army.LOL.Nice title,And a quality fish. The second shot is a cracker!Nice clear image. Thanks for the info.Might just have ta give em a bash.
If the Bass are hitting smaller profiles more regularly for ya,Try a Smith Limited Bisen.Used one for the first time in unknown water on the weekend.Only small fish,But had a ball. Was gettin up to six surface strikes on a single retrieve.Very small lure though,Which obviously equates to light weight.About 2-3 grams. It is suited to spin tackle,And would be hard to throw on a baitcaster.
It has two weak points though...Price = dear. And one of the little wings was smashed of by my Bass of the day at about 26cm.LOL.If it weren't for the latter I would highly recommend it.But it could still make the difference when the fish are fussy. It's a very realistic Cicada presentation.A mate was using a 35mm Buggi Pop.Similar size,But not nearly as good a results.
P.S. Whens the sleep over/B.B.Q./Gathering of stock for ya dam day/night.LOL.
Cheers m8.

The underlying spirit of angling,Is that the skill of the angler,Is pitted against the instinct and strength of the fish,And that the latter is entitled to an even chance for his life. Regards, Hardb8.Kickin tails and razin scales since 1979.
Definetely little River2Sea poppers work well for me up here... havnt tried them on ye' old Bass. Tiny Torpedoes... I have had near cases of heart attacks with these lures... fish love em'!
But... my favourite Topwater lure, which has done well for bass down south is the Predatek Spaddler. Might set you back say $15 or so bucks, but they are worth their weight in gold. Forget the Jackalls and get one of them!

Thanks for all the replies fellas, now I just have to decide what to have a go at. CHEERS woody
go the megabass popx , have a look at them then tell me if you have ever seen a better lure? there a bit exy but well worth the coin
Yeh b8, how about General Patton with the big stogie stickin' out his mouth. Been checking out the Smith Towadi range and there is some excellent (and exxy) topwater lures. Awesome colours and finish on 'em, and some great shrimp imitations. Will have to do a little m&g fishing sesh with some of the boys, but it'll still be a while until the dams ready for fish. Give me a heads up if your thinking of having a fish in my neck of the woods.
Cheers mate

Gunna throw my two cents worth in here and say for the budget concious you cant go past the crawler style lure made by outback lures. You can get em from Kmart or BigW for about 4 bucks each!!!! I fish with mates who have all the aforementioned poppers and it out fishes em every time....
The Quick bee certainly seems to attract the larger fish, here's a victim from this morning. Can't make it out in the pic, but the eye on the side of the fish shown had obviously been damaged at some time in it's life. It was all marbled looking with scar tissue. Didn't stop him from finding my lure though, he nailed it at speed first go. Goes to show they can survive and effectively hunt prey even with 1 eye.
hey fellas havnt been on for awile i recon the rapala skitter pops are great definantly for bass then get the larger ones for the barra and have some great colours
Taylor made lures are great for wild river bass, my best lure here in the headwaters of a nth NSW river is a Taylor made "thing", little plastic fizzer on the front, the most unbelievable black, purple and gold colours on the lure, only quite small but it sure drives bass wild.
More teeth marks on it than you could believe and still going strong.
2nd best is a Koolabung Circada Fizzer in green and gold, guess the colours mimic the cicadas which are common here in summer.
As someone further upthread said, once you get a good surface hit you never settle for anything else.
