I have run in gear.

And the little Merc has no gears so it has to be in gear to flush
I normally put mine in forward and reverse for 10 seconds each way.

Andrew,
Any particular reason for doing this?
cheers Scott
i flush my motor in a drum and normally run it in gear to keep a load on the motor whilst i wait for it to run out of fuel
dont know if this is good bad or indifferent dont think id run a motor in gear that has the prop exposed bit to hmmmm for me water evrywhere spinning steel blades to many things to go wrong
Also flush in drum so put it in forward and reverse for 1/2 minute or so.
