    Halco Whiptail Jigs

    Hello Ausfishers
    Has any one used one of these and had any sucsess and what is the best way to use them

    Yep, brilliant lure but as with any fishing if the fish aint there they don't catch anything. Allows a baitcaster to pretend he/she is a fly fisher. I generally only use the green and white and the pink and white. I have caught estuary cod, trevally, and queenies on them. I am sure the pink one in the right place would be as good as the legendary "pink thing" that the swoffers use for barra. They allow you to fish a deeper part of the water column. Use very short sharp jerky retrieve off the bottom, let it settle and do it again. Some times a slow steady retrieve works as well. Oh, I've also caught a rat tailed stingray on it too but I think he just swam over it as I got his wing. All fish were caught in Townsville Harbour around rocks and pilons.
