Sandgate Sharks
hey guys
being keen fishers, me and my mate (shan) went for fish in front of sandgate at low tide, flicking lures for flathead, waded out to about waist deep for about 1 1/2hrs, didnt get a nudge, decided to switch to pillies on ganged 2/0s and second cast about 20m out in front of us i'm hooked onto whaler just over a metre long, airborn twice, and as it took line towards moreton, me and shan back pedalled into shallower water as we only had shoes and boardies on! not expectingto hook sharks, using light line (4kg) was soon bitten off. being keen to hook another, we put on wire traces and headed out again, cast out and within 30 seconds double hook up, launching marlin style out of water in front of us they both took off, adrenilin was pumping but were broken off again, couldnt beleive it this went on for another 7 of 8 hookups before i hooked one just under a metre, being in waist deep water with no protection, shan thought he better walk back to sand bank with me, where all the low tide dog walkers were standing. After 10 or so minutes we beached a nice whaler about 80cm. not bad we thought, had a ball, ended up leaving with that catch.
Shan went back at high tide that arvo and hooked 3 again, landing one, which was awesome considering he was fishing in amongst the wind surfers down there! They werent amused, he thought it was a friendly warning of sandgates flats dangers. Hope to get out there again soon, next time with video camera, was a awesome morning!
cheers, andrew

Re: Sandgate Sharks
Plenty of bull sharks up the back of Hayes yesterday, carveing up the bait and free jumping.
Makes me a bit wary about wadeing
cheers
