Hi guys I'm looking at trying these plastics but know which ones to use. Any suggestions on colour size and how they are used would be most appreciated.
Thanks in advance Ken
G,Day Ken, There's heaps of info regarding soft plastics on this forum so if you do a search you will learn a few tips.
Many brands of plastics are available these days and i can understand you are a bit confused as to what is the best for snapper.
Its up to mr snapper on the day i guess because if its presented well and the colour is right hold onto your rod!!!!
Try 3 and 4" zooms, powerbaits, gulps, atomics just to name a few.
Technique is to cast ahead of your drift or just place the rod in the holder out the back and let the wave action do the work for you.
Jigheads i use are 1/8 and 1/4 oz.
My favourite colours are greens and pumpkinseed.
Cheers Brent
Go the berkely gulp 5" jerk shad in any colour you can't go wrong. That will be a very good starting point for you. Cost: $10 per pack 5 plastic per pack best of luck mate
My local - Tackle Warehouse stocks a few. Not a lot of shops have them. They are an American plastic that are huge in the States. Give the guys a yell and see what colours they have. Have had sucess on Shad or Albino in the Tiny Fluke - Think that is 3".
Thank you to every one for there advise, I tried some 3" shads in pumkinseed. I didn't get any snapper on them but caught a few under sized red throat emporer on them, which I thought was good as it was the first time I've used plastics.
