    My hats off!!

My hats off to a good chap , Captain gecko, Sir,Light was fading and the wind was 15 to 20..Where we went I no not.. He blind folded me ,,When it was taken off it was time to fish... Fish on,, "pulled hard, Captain gecko say's, not a jack, you will no when it is..Boy was he right, again, fish on and as anyone who has caught a jack knows, Wow,,,,, What a fighter..Run after run Drag just right. Best part.. My first jack ever... 52cm, then two keeper sand crabs by the Captain, a few small bream and then again on my Line, the first lite pull and all heaven broke loose... The runs where longer and harder on this jack than the first,,Knowing this fish could go as long as 60cm I let it go before even seeing it. It's the good captain's fish to catch at a later time..Went to 2:30 and off for home ,, What a fish and what a time in the true Ausfish spirit, Here's to ya Captain..Thank you.. Bluebeard..

P.S. I hope that the great spot I was taken to will not be discoverd by the clue's behind me in the pic,and of course,, all never tell

    Re: My hats off!!

Always good to see a guy get his first jack. You handled it perfectly, and didnt rush the landing net either. Someone here took me out and showed me how to do it last season, and I was able on pass on the favour this season. This is what ausfish is all about.

Dont worry BB, they wont work out much from the photo. I made sure of that before I emailed em to you.

The first fish he got was sweetlip about 37cm which fight so well they can easily be mistaken for a small jack. Nothing mistakable about a 50 plus jack on the line tho. The next jack was running even harder and broke the 6lb braid. I woulda liked to see the size of that one. Might have a look for him tonite.....

I got no jacks on the nite, but I was consoled by the fact that it takes a good skipper to be able to put his boater onto a target species. Last year, I would have paid top dollar to a guide who could put me onto jack, but I didnt trust any of them to be able to produce.

And before you all PM me, no, Im not selling seats on the next ride.
Find your own spot. Its not that hard to do, if you spend enough time on the water, and reading ausfish. Theres plenty of help here if you concentrate on techniques and not on locations.

    cheers
    Andrew
