Outboard
I have an Evinrude 25hp 1996 outboard. Over the last few months I've broken three front rubber engine mounts. Has anyone had any similar problems? I wonder if the rear mounts could be worn and allowing to much movement. Another idea is that maybe the bracing arm is causing to much pressure on the mount during travel on the trailer. I've had the motor for a few years without any worries until now. Any ideas.
Thanks John

Re: Outboard
replace them all at the same time and see how that goes, could even be a bad batch of mounts

Re: Outboard
Seaweed they are just rubbish, I had the same problem with the same engine, in the end I stopped replacing and used it with broken mounts for the next 5 years, actually I gave up on the problem.
At the time I had a glass boat for the easy to get to launches and offshore stuff but the 14ft tinny with the 25 used to do some fairly bumpy trailering to the more remote launches, the engine was tilted up on a transom saver (is yours?).
It's simply a fault with these particular engines, it got a hard time on rough roads and access tracks but it still should not have broken IMO.
cheers fnq
