Great stuff mate, One thing that I really want to have a go at. I just can't leave the prawn plastics alone at the moment, Too much fun.
Cheers Dave.
Hey mate you should give them a go...wont take long b4 your on...I had a cast on the way home yesterday too with a popper and got a bream in about 5 mins....from the boat is a much better option though with bream.
well done mate, what sort of retrieve do you or did you use for it? alot of pauses?
If i could get paid the same to fish, sorry boss but i ......!
id like to know where abouts to try a popper for bream, i live near or pretty much on cabbage tree but they dont seem to be that interested in poppers. what areas have worked for you.
nice bream, got to love the summer surface action.
nice bream. Cant wait to get a jack on popper. Poppers are great fun.
Doesn't get much better than hitting a popper at your feet. Well done.
pretty much any popper that is about 50mm long...having said that I reckon you get bigger fish with lures about 70mm, just not as many hits.
When you work the lure try to think of your reel as not so much as to reel in your lure, but to gather in slack line.
Cast the lure at any snag around high tide, pause. then kind of flick your rod tip gently to make the lure 'pop' then drop your rod tip back towards the lure. This will create slack line, wind that in and pop the lure again. I guess a good way to start so at least you get follows is to count 1 pause 2 pause 3 pause pause pause 1pause 2 pause 3 pause pause pause (popping the lure on the count).
If you do this in the right area I reckon within 10 casts you will at least get some follows, then you do what you think the fish want.....don't be afraid to let the lure sit there for a bit if there is a follower.
Your casting has to be pretty good though. generally if you are not within 1.5 mtrs of the bank you wont entice them out. I think the water should be around 5 feet deep.....I have not had much action on rock walls that drop too deep.
Always cast into shade, I think this is pretty important too. And the one thing I think is CRUCIAL, if the wind is rippling the water find another spot....they don't seem to hit much///it has to be smooth water.
All my opinion, hope this helps. Feel free to ask any more questions as this is the only style of fishing I have done for a few years now......pretty much anyway.
Oh and paddyinoz......see that Jack to the left there, that was on a popper.....you wait till you get one.....you can't wait to get another one!!! They absolutely SMASH poppers, espec. compared to bream.
thanks for the comments guys
to answer the questions was using a yo zuri popper in random canal near monaco st used a quick retreive and pause, hits were on the pause
