    New Steering

Last saturday blew the steering on my CC Allycraft.

Problem is, do i spend $350.00 plus fitting for a new telelfex wprm drive whatever they are called system, or do i get a new hydraulic system fitted. Hydraulic system was quoted as around a thousand fitted.

What do others think? Is it worth getting the hydraulic system?

    G'day Mike

You only have a 75hp mariner don't you?

I dont think a hydraulic setup would be warranted if that is the case..... but then again, you wouldn't know yourself if yo had one

    Gday dave,

I agree, i dont think hydraulic for the extra bucks is warranted. Will probably stay with a new teleflex system same as whats on it already.

hey mate go the hydraulic it may not be warranted 10ft off the boat ramp but if the teleflex broke 30k's offshore you would kick yourself. trust me it happened to me and i would have nothing but hydraulic now.

    Re: New Steering

Go hydraulic mike i use to have the cable and there is just no comparison. Don't know whether your boat pulls to one side like my old boat use to when it was trimed right down but elimanating that alone is worth its wait in gold. Being able to let go of the steering wheel and stay straight is great, and half as easy to turn the boat, in my opinion spend the few extra bucks and you wont look back.

    cheers pete...

try the non feed back teleflex helm systems the helm does not move until you more the helm yourself they are not much dearer than the standard helms and a lot cheaper than hydraulic.

    Re: New Steering

Once you get hydraulic you will wonder how you put up with the other stuff, just the same as your car without power steering with no feedback. worth every cent.
