Barra Strike Info

I just wanted to ask the question are awoonga barra hitting lures and soft plactics as hard as say 2/3/4 years ago due to boating pressure on the dam today.
Iv just noted over the last few years fishing trips to awoonga the strike rate has dropped.
Any info on this would be great.

I've been traveling up to awoonga for around 3 years and I have picked up that barra seem to hit lures harder in some months than others and in different weather conditions to.In December I was there when the big fishing comps was on there were over 100 boats comp people and non comp fishing and there were fish still landed my biggest was 108cm and I lost 2 around weedy timber.

In May last year I was using a surfs poper and got smashed by a 112cm hit like a truck luckly for me she ran strait out of the weed into deep water were she was netted quick photo and released to smash some one else another day.Talking to locals up there just before winter the barra look to be more active feed trying to fatten up before winter sets in around april/may.It would be easer for me tell you more if I lived up there and fish the dam all the months. Which would be GREAT.
