    Post Borumba Dam Camping

    Long time lurker, first post.

The family and some friends were looking at camping at the Borumba Deer Park around Easter, we've never been there before and would mind some info.

Has anyone been up there recently?
Is the fishing ok for absolute novices in a tinny?
Is it good for small kids (under 6)?
    Does it cost much?
    Can you have fires there?
What are the camp grounds like, ie designated sites or setup where you like?

Any info would be much appreciated.

    Thanks Tones

    Re: Borumba Dam Camping

G'day I was up there mid last year and found it better at the camping area closer to the dam, the dear park looked ok but it was very cramped, about 2 km up the road is a realy good camp area, there are shower blocks with hot water, toilets, every thing you would need, even a public phone, fires are alowed and there is plenty of firewood supplied by the sawmill. the cost from memory was $22 for three days and that included a permit to fish in the dam. as for the sites there are plenty and you basicaly find a spot but get in early if you want a good one as allways. fishing was good better luck in the mornings and you will have no worries getting to the fish in a tinnie, only gripe with the dam is the amount of water skiers that get there, one boat ramp that is very steep but it is not slippery and it drops to 10m right from the edge so you need to watch the kids. i would take the family back there as a good time was had by all.

Unhappy Re: Borumba Dam Camping - Other Options?

Apparently got in too late, both the Deer Park and the other camping grounds are booked out for Easter.

Can anyone suggest another spot in SE QLD for camping with similar qualities to Borumba Dam?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Must be over 20 years since I camped at Island Reach. How did you find it?
