    Colossal Squid Rare catch

Howdy Ausfishers, thought you might like to see these photos of the worlds biggest squid.
Caught by a NZ fishing crew off the coast of Antartica recently.
Took 2 hours to haul in from the depths and weighed half a ton.
These sea creatures inhabit waters around the southern ocean to depths of 6,500 ft.
They have animal like claws on each tenticle and are extremly aggressive killers.
If you were to make calamari rings from this beast they would be the size of tractor tyres.

Runamuck not sure of the jighead colour but it must have weighed alot to get down to that monster..lol
No seriously they say it followed another big fish to the surface and was almost dead before capture but still was a mamoth effort to get the monster aboard the fishing boat.
Its been frozen and sent to the TE PAPA MUSEUM IN WELLINGTON NZ for study.
    Cheers Brent
ps; it had eyes the size of dinner plates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
