    Re: Multiple battery charging.

    Kev

Not sure if you have outboard or inboard, but if you have an outboard might pay to check if it has a built-in isolator for second/house battery. Although I haven't looked into ant further the manual for my 150 enirude FICHT says just need to hook up the wire to second battery.

Others out there may have a better idea re this option?

    cheers

Hmmm. The system I was talking about earlier won't over charge a battery at all, it is based on switch mode power supply technology, and microprocessor technology. Simply it detects when surplus charge is available from the crank battery, ie when the motor is running and supplying the battery with charge current, the unit then sends the regulated charge to the Aux battery.

Switching regulators are designed specifically to detect when the battery has reached an optimum, safe charge level and the charger will recognise this, and the microprocessor will simply stop sending the charge over.

The guy who designed it approached me about it due to our friendship, and the fact he knows I love my boating and 4wd.. It would be safe enough to even supply a sealed lead acid battery in the back of a 4wd as an accessory battery, for say a 12v esky.. That was my original idea, so when you stopped, it switched off and the SLA battery would run the esky and not sap your car battery, leaving you without the means to start your vehicle
