Re: Callide Dam??
(Assuming the water is still low) across the main bay, heading up stream, there is a small quarry on the right, the area in front of that got me a good hook up last time. Gave the rod to the young fella after the first couple of runs, unfortunately it still had to much grunt left for him, and it wrapped him around a snag and he lost it.

Agree with Feral, same area fired for us when we were there. Some submerged fencing (or something) past the quarry can snag a few lures, but also has fish hanging around it.
The local tackle store Creek to Coast is very helpful for the latest conditions. Watch out for the barra lure crunching Yellowbelly - they seem to readily take big lures. Good luck.

We were there a couple of weeks ago and the shallow bays and points were fishing well. Casting Squidgy slickrigs in the 110mm size with a moderate retrieve, also hard bodies around the same size except these were fished slow with a steady retrieve, however what works today might not work tomorrow, thats fishin!!

Re: Callide Dam??
with the weather forecast being 20-30knots se and rain I suspect that the water temperature will drop a lot and the barra will move into the more sheltered and shallower bays where the water temperature might be a bit warmer. For the last 2 months I have been catching them in 25-30 feet of water using shallow diving lures but with the weather as it is going to be I'd be looking to the shallows in the afternoon, but expect it to be hard fishing. The opposite bank to the quarry has a good line of cut off stumps and there are submerged trees in this region which hold a lot of smaller 80-90cm fish which may be tempted with persistent flogging. good luck scott.

As it is just a small puddle there is not to much exploring needed. Fish can be caught deep, shallow or middle water depending on the day. Just change your technics until you get the formular for the day.
