    Any Ideas?

    G'day

Went to the reef on the weekend and my sounder was working fine and when i got home i disconnected as per usuall and put it away.

Still wondering about a few things on the sounder i decided to get the manual out and have a bit of a read and try a few new things. So i went back out to the boat and plugged it in and this is what appeared. Does anybody know what the hell it is?

This has happend once before but after i replace the power cable it hasn't done it again since now.

The sounder is very old maybe one of the first colour sounders i am not sure but is it time to say goodbye or is there a simple soloution, it is a FURUNO FCV-668

    Cheers Pete...

    G'day Indy,

Hard to know exactly, and electronics diagnostics arent really my forte.

Sometimes they will do this when out of the water. Have you tried it back in the water?

Also, try disconnecting all power, then reconnecting.... keep the gain turned down.

If that doesnt work, Trymax marine are the people who can help.

    Cheers

    Pete

When my computer monitor cable developed a fault, I got a red tinge to everything, went away when I replaced the cable. Maybe you need to fiddle with the transducer cable, see if there's any broken wires etc?

Thanks for your replies guy's i plugged it back in again today to have a play with the cable but it seems to have fixed itself once again. I think it may be the transducer cable as the cable running into the plug doesn't look like the best connection i have ever seen. I'll see how it goes this time and maybe upgrade after i save a few more dollars.

    Thanks again pete...

Most sounders show rubbish when used out of water as the sonar is set at the speed of bounce in water which is different to air. Put the transducer in a bucket of water to see if it changes.
