    Deb's 1st Bay Long-Tail

Decided last night that we would go and see if we could get some more longtail out in the Bay.
Left spinnakers at around 6:00am and headed out back towards the M3 as it seemed to be a good place to start seeing though they were there last Friday.
Started off quite slow in the morning, not much happening anywhere. A few odd ones here and there.
Got a couple of hook-ups but didn't stay connected.

By the time lunch had come around we had been up to the pearl drum, then to the M8, across to Tangalooma and back along the main channel to
where we had started. Still nothing barr a few schools of bonito. So weturned the motor off and sat back and had lunch deciding if we should just
    call it a day.

Then we noticed a couple of single birds acting like they do when thay are over single fish, so I got my rod out of the rod holder, all rigged up with
    an assassin 4.5" twitch soft-plastic.
I got in front of one and made a cast back towards the bird, just like Eric had taught me, and then the whole day changed.

I thought I had hooked the dolphin that had just gone past. The pull was amazing, like nothing I had ever expected. I thought I was going to get pulled out of the boat. Lucky for me, Eric is quick on his feet and he grabbed me from behind just in case. Once I got my footing I knew I was in for the fight of my life.

After about 20mins all I could think of was how Eric had called them eveready's cause they never say die, well I was convinced I had
the rechargable version as it just kept going and going and going and...................going.
It literally went straight past the side of the boat at a hundred mile an hour, what an awesome sight. It nearly dislocated my shoulder as it went around the back of the boat, but I wasn't giving up.

After 45 long minutes, I got it to the side of the boat, for the third time and this thing still had fight in it. It was doing circles on the surface with only the leader.
Eric reached over and grabbed the leader, ready to tail it, but it still wasn't giving in, more circles. After a few more circles and a couple more flicks of the tail, he finally managed to get it in.

I was ecstatic, my first longtail and a PB. The biggest fish I have ever caught.

We don't know exact weight as the berkley scales went to 19.7kg and then to error and started flashing on all zero's. It was 136cm give or take a cm.
This is definately a day I will remember. I finally got to christen my BeaR S10-H on a really BIIIIIIG fish.

Looking forward to the next one. Once I recover.

Congrats on a serious fish there Deb!! I think your arms must be a little longer now!

    Chat soon,

    Shirl

P.s. Interested in how birds act when they see a single fish. Top effort.

One of these days I may even venture beyond the Southern end of the bay and try my luck in the paddock!! Well done and good luck on your next trip...you never know a new PB may be waiting!!

    Hi Deb,

So you think you are a bit of a smarty pants now eh?? Just because you can catch them bigger than Eric's.

Just think how big it would look if you hold him out at arm's length; that is if you could actually hold him out there.

Just don't tell me that you had him in the boat in ten minutes.

I took 15 -20 minutes to land mine on Saturday at 8Kg.

Well done Deb. You guys are starting to give me the sh1$%^s
