    New Combo

    Hey everyone,
My birthday is coming up shortly and i am recieving a new shimano 4000 symetre. My friends has this reel and he loves it. for this new reel i am hoping to put on 20 pound tuf line. I went down to the local store yesterday enquiring about a new rod. i initially wanted the SSX squidey 4 - 8 kg but the guy down there said i should look at the 6 - 10 kg pfluguer. the rod felt nice when it was loaded up and all but i don't weather the 6 - 10 kg will be to heavy for the symetre. this will be my first combo in this size so some help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks Josh

    Re: New Combo

depends on what your planning to use it for. I would agree that the 6-10 kg rod would be a bit big for it.

    Re: New Combo

Have a look at the Shimano Snapper Raider for that sort of work. I run 20lb braid on a 4000 size reel and it casts a mile. Its rater 5-8kg and is 7'6"

    Re: New Combo

I've got the exact same setup as Neil, and I reckon it's the goods. Some of the Pfluegers look good too, but the combo we've got is a pretty good match I reckon.

Only thing I'd mention is the Raider's 2-piece, which I prefer.

    Good luck,
    Mike

    Re: New Combo

the raider rod is far superior to the squidgy spin rods, both he old and the new ones. the raider (with the extra leangth) will cast a slug better also
    cheers
