    Manly Harbour

    G'day,

We got the family together this afternoon for a couple of hours relaxing down at the Manly Harbour to watch the boats come back in. We brought along a few coldies, some nice snacks and the camp chairs. A nice way to spend a couple of hours on a Sunday afternoon.

I also brought along my light SP outfit - just in case. After about 30 casts off the rocks, I had landed 3 fish - a small moses perch, some unidentified thing, and a 60cm flathead! Actually, I hooked the flathead then called over my 10 year old nephew, Jakey to take the honours. After about 5 minutes and some decent runs, Jakey positioned it perfectly at the waters edge for me to grab. After a minute admiring our catch, we set the nice flathead free. No photos sorry - just the yarn.

I thought for a moment about keeping it, but remembered I still have a couple of meals of snapper in the freezer from a couple of weeks ago.

    Regards, Brad.

Nice stuff steve. Should get some good tailor running thru there soon. I saw a school of LT's smashing up bait at the entrance there around this time last year. Speccy sight.
Well done on the release. Did you see much bait around?

Nice one Brad letting your nephew bring it in, I did that on my brothers bucks party, took a half day charter and not much was being caught and just before we had to pack up I hooked up and gave it to him since he hadn't got anything decent and it turned out to be a 40cm squire which apart from one unstopable was the best for the day.

    Hows the baby going Brad?

Hi Sarg - the little man is going great - thanks for asking. Harry is 3 months now and showing more and more personality every day. Good on ya for letting your brother have a go with the squire - it's a good feeling.

Didn't see any bait around Richie - just had to try my luck with one of my favourtie plastics. I was suprised to catch a couple of fish just off the rocks like that, and with very little effort. I figured there probably wasn't a great number of decent flatties around that area so didn't want to take this one away. I reckon all the people watching Jakey reel it in thought we were mad to release it.

    Cheers, Brad.
