I did it once last summer and got a ray. Nothing else to speak of.
Ive heard its good if you know where the 19th ave lake goes under the road and empties in the main creek. They say you can pick the runout tide and get jacks in the creek, but it didnt happen for me. I suppose one trip isnt enough to make a fair call on.
Its as good or bad as any other spot on its day.
cheers
Andrew
Bit iffy up there, took the kids yappy pumping on the flats down from the M1 / footbridge there and got a decent haul, and there was this old fella gettin' his fair share, we had a bit of a chat about fishing in the area, asked him if there's anything worthwhile upstream, he nah, down that way though there's flathead and whiting to be had....
Well i went there about 2 years ago and ended up with some good whiting and bream and caught a 57cm flathead a 45cm flathead and a 40cm flathead and some blokes in the mouth of the creek were catching tiger sharks, mackerel and Kingfish
cheers Jpart10
very hot and cold,
can be good one day, go back the next with similar conditions and it will be shocking. the whole creek can be like that, but thats just my experience.
I have a mate who does quite well fishing the bank there he has caught alot of big flatties and the occasional jack. One night he landed three nice jacks from right under the m1 bridge
even though I live very close to talle creek I rarely fish it because, as Greg said, it is very hot and cold.
the pipe that goes thru to 19th ave lake (that Andrew mentioned) is one of the better spots, but mainly on the runout. there are other spots further up, but it can be a slow trip
i threw surface lures around the M1 bridge the other morning before work and managed a few trevors (big eye and GT) - good fun for a quick land based flick

in my experience i've caught moses perch, trevs, flathead and this ugly looking brown fish that got away up there. also seen guys at the ramp comparing jacks which they caught a bit upstream. worth a try
There's crabs and yabbies in that river, so I'd assume with a food source, there'd have to be fish in there also![]()
cheers guys might still be worth a shot, is the pipeline from the 19th avenue lake easy to spot..???
If you drive up 19th avenue from the gold coast highway you cant miss it, ive always heard reports from there but you have to put the time into it to get results...
yes, easy to spot. Theres a stretch of just parkland, no houses, and then a few big 2 storey houses. Its in the grassy parkland right before the big white spanish style building (from memory). I think its visible on most tides, unless youre right on a big high.
Theres a vacant block/park on the lake side as well, so you should work it out on a map ok. UBD 60 E20.
The lakeside could be even better if you are LB. Dont discount it, theres some big fish in them lakes.

cheers guys...
hey gecko fish in the lake also..?? have heard of trevs in there....correct ???
Careful on the 'yak out there, a guy got bumbed around by a big shark there last year. He thought it was a bully, but there are tigers in there as well. I don't know how people let their kids swin there.
