    Fishing Report Gold Coast

    Hi All

There haven’t been many reports from the offshore grounds on the Gold Coast with only a few boats heading out due to the weather. For those who did mackerel and marlin werethe catch of the day. Live baiting seemed to be the go for the small blacks off Southport while the mackerel responded to chrome spoons and pilchards drifted in a berley trail. Kingfish and pearlies on the 36s with baits and jigs. Better weather this weekend will see a better catch and allow for more offshore trips.

Yabbies, worms, and prawns has produced good whiting in the Nerang. The incoming tide is the best time. Big trevally on the large outgoing tides have seen some good bust-ups with good fish being landed look for eddies of the major canals and in the river. Poppers work well and shallow to medium diving lures are good also.

Soft plastics and live baits In the Broadwater have produced good flathead mainly in the deeper holes and channels adjacent to shallow weed beds and sand flats. The next few day should produce some good jacks as the tides are right. Try rock walls and bridges using soft plastics and live bait.. The Seaway is always good for bream, trevally and a few tailor along the rock walls.

    Regards
    Shane Boese

is that area of the Nerang river east of the M1 bridge where I think the council has a fishing platform, a reasonably consistent area to catch something, using live yabbys ?

Just curious for some good options for some fun, safe family fishing options closer to home (live in Nerang)

    thanks !

    HI Shane,
you dont work for a tackle shop do you? Your report sounds exactly like those I hear on Brownies site, or Paul Burt or Nugget?? Sorry, Im sure its good info...
    .... ;-)

Are you saying the tides are good for jacks because theres less tide diff? PLease explain.... I thought more run was more fun? Others think the highgest tide of the month is best? Anyway, it sure worked for me last nite, tide diff was only 0.6m and I broke 50cm for the first time. Im just curious as to what people think are good tides and why?

    cheers

    Andrew,

Shane is better known for his political efforts and work with the Fishing Party.

I think his reports are just information sharing - almost identical to reports on another site - I have no problem with that (aslong as the report doesn't list any of my favourite spots )

Mate i do own a tackle shop here in brisbane have done for 13 years and the info i give is from very good fisherman. I also give reports on nuggets fishing show on saturdays mornings.
Just trying to give a service all ausfishers as sometimes we need all the help we can get.

I have caught more jacks in slow moving water than fast.

    Regards

Mate the problem i find all the time is that you guys tell me what you have caught BUT never where. It is always a general area. I can tell you that the lower reachers are better.

How far down the lower reaches, generally? Like around Chevron Island / Budds Beach, or does it tend to be OK'ish like back near Benowa / Carrara way....
