Mate I think you nailed most of em there. Only one I can think of you haven't mentioned that might fit into that price is Suffix Performance Pro.

    is suffix good is it?

all of mine are much of a muchness, the only one im a bit funny about is the stren,
it seems to loop and cause knots, but it might be because i have 14lb on a 2500 size reel

I will probably get grilled for saying this mate...
But I seriously believe for anything 20lb and under fireline is the best.
It is the most trouble free with wind knots etc and I love it.
Once over 20lb it becomes a bit wirey and stiff.
The fireline XDS is also great stuff but may be over $30.

Has anyone tried whiplash? seems very thin. I've had some trouble with XDS and definitly prefer true braids over fused. I have Platil 20lb and has been trouble free. Finns is excellent as is Tuffline XP.

    cheers, roo.

Thumbs up Re: best braid under $30

G'Day Yallahunter, Mate Google up Osprey Outdoors on the net, they are a Western Australian crowd, I recently purchased 150yards of 50lb Green Tuf Line XP Braid, landed at my PO Box in 3 days for $23.00 and they threw in 100 yds of Osprey Braid 30lb for nothing, Great deal I was wrapped, worth looking into , Cheers Whitto

I really like the Spiderwire Stealth (in moss green). It's fairly hard to find in Australia so far but i did see some tracer yellow stuff in limited breaking strains at my local shop the other day.

    You can get a 300yd spool for about $40 here - http://www.fishingbraid.com.au/

I've bought a couple of spools from this guy and I love it. I've got a 30lb spool and a 50lb one. The 30lb went on a 6500C3 for barra, tossig lures at reef flats, etc and the 50lb is on a bottom bashing rig I have (bought it for less resistance to big tidal movements in 100ft of water).

It is a woven type braid similar to Bionic Braid and so far it has great usuability and durability. A bit over your price range at $40 but that is for 300yds, not 150.

Yeah ebay for bigger rolls, you can get smaller rolls at ok prices, but you need to be careful as they tend to go close to the cost of getting them locally. But you can usually get 1500 yard spools of good brand name braid for under $100 Australian delivered to your door.

    Re: best braid under $30

I use 8lb Kokoda Livewire on my baitcaster and it's great stuff! It's very thin, smooth and strong. It does seem to be a bit fussy with knots though, so with this stuff I use a glued stren knot (braid to leader). I bought my 120m spool for $35. I havent used anything but the 8lb so i cant say what the 20lb would be like but i think it's definitely worth a try!
