1st., I've been hearing stories of prawns, and was just wondering whether there are any brisbane spots that i might be able to hit to get a feed ( or bait) without a boat.?
There used to be a lot of posts on hre about north pine dam this time of year. Is it still fishing well? iu was thinking of checking it out. are earth worms any good as bait?
G'day Rob, My fishing mate and I have been doing very well landbased prawning over the past month or so, Prawned our favourite spot about a week ago throwing two nets simultaneously and giving it a 5 minute break between 4 throws each we picked up a kilo in less than half an hour. Most in one net was around 15 big bananas. I prawn two spots fairly regularly on the Brisbane Southside. Send us a sincere PM and I'll give up the spots. I live to fish not to prawn.
Did very well once on a spot just west of the Bruce Highway on the Pine river. I think it was still within sight of the road - a nice deep eddy tucked into the bank on the falling tide.
Never went back as I'm on the Southside and it's a bit far to drive for a feed of prawns.
I know the spot on the highway your talking about.
I've been past there the last few mornings and seen no less then 7 boats each time with people useing cast nets
Prawns, shrimp I don't know how much alike they are? Where I live in the southeast U.S.. We combine fish meal with clay to use as bait which we shape into a large pattie. We use poles to mark the spot where the bait is. The limet is 60 pounds a day. Not very hard to fill a limet most nights. This works best around here when the shrimp are heading out to sea in the fall.
I will go about three times and have enough for the year after peeling and vacume sealing them.
