    catching mangrove jacks on s/p

    g'day
    i love catching mangrovejack on sp. but cant catch any on the sunshine coast creeks dont know why? when i went up to bundy we got 8 mangrovejack in 4 hours the biggest was 40cm no big ones, all caught on 6lb fireline and 14lb leader, with 1/8 jighead and all different kinds of gulps. what am i doing wrong down there?

    Mate they are not as plentiful down here as they are up north. Wait for stinking hot days, high barometer and look for warm water. You have to put in a few hours to put red in the boat. Sometimes you just get lucky and put a few on the deck in 1 trip but there will be a fair few jackless trips inbetween. You have to put your lure infront of thir face so casts have to be on the money. I would also recomend you up you main line and leader when fishing snaggy areas as a decent jack will make short work out of that gear 9 times out of10
