Nice one Foggy, thats the best I've ever seen from the River!
Cheers
Jim
we fished the rockwall at the mouth, plenty of hits with one squire 40cm landed.
we were using the lime tiger gulps. any clues on better hook ups? near on every cast had a knock, but couldn't hook the bastards!
nice fish btw!!!!
cheers
lippa
LIPPA, what size jighead were you using? I am assuming you were using 5" shads and if so, up your hook size to 3/0 min. I also find a common mistake with SP's and Snap's is that people jag at them like fishing for Tailor - you need to give them line instead ie drop your tip after a hit - they will smash it again... Hope this helps and this MY experience only.
Take Care T
were using tt 1/6ths over the drop off into the channel with l/tiger 5inch, wicked hits and flashes of silver burt none hooked, moved back into the wall, 2 mts off it with tt 1/8th 3inch l'tigers 2/0 hook. you would always be hit at the bottom, not on the fall, jig up.....nothing,. fall tap tap bottom smash short run, no hook up
maybe i just suck!!!!
cheers
l;ippa
excellent fish there foggy can't believe the quality that comes out of that river and i still havn't fished it nice work
Mate thats a great snapper there! I got my first there not to long ago. Great fun and great eatting
Cheers, Mick.
Lippa,
Pretty good info form T1 there, but T, you left out the most important bit. Jig head should be as light as possible. When fishing in close to the wall 1/8 to 1/16 should be all you need. I assume you are fishing light. I only fish there with 8lb leader. The lighter the leader the more hits in my opinion. Also try the gulp grubs in pumkinseed. They always seem to produce in that spot.
Are you casting and retrieving or doing the drift and drag so to speak. Either way keep the plastic busy. At the first hit, drop it back and count to three. If nothing give it a short hard couple of jiggs and quite often the fish will hit again but this time usually on the drop and with a lot more conviction. Well, it works for me this way.
Best of luck
Foggy
Top stuff there Graham!! Mate I have never seen those 4inch gulp grubs anywhere and I have been looking ever since we went out that many moons ago!! The northside must have the monopoly on them.
By the way .... is that a new rod?? a drop shot or Egrell?
Adam
lime tiger is the new pumpkinseed!!!!
without a doubt!
well done on your PB foggy
