Cardwell @ Easter

My family and I are headed to Cardwell over the Easter period hope to get out and do a bit of fishing any tips on where to go? I will have my 3 year old son with me and wife so I dont really want to head out that far. If anyone could help maybe with a couple of marks in and around the island It would be greatly appreciated. I dont want anyones spot X though I like to find my own.

Around Gould and Garden islands at the northern end of Hinchinbrook are always worth a look and nice to pull up on for a picnic and let the rugrat run around.

As Major-defect said Gould and Garden are great spots to go especially if you have little ones on board , looks like the boat you have means you won't have to worry about the cardwell washing machine in the arvo's heading home either .

The islands seem to fish alot better on the high tide so make sure your not BBQing on the beach on the change of tide if you decide to you can get your boat right up on the beach at gould and then your only 20 yards from the free BBQ's and you never know what you will pick up sitting under a tree sucking on a stubbie and a rod in the water , its a great spot

Is the ramp at Cardwell deep water or is it tidal?

Maybe we could have a meet and greet @ Cardwell over Easter, what does evryone think?

I don't know what i'm doing with work over easter I'll have to wait and see.But as far as the ramps go there is one on the front at Cardwell but can only but used at high tide.Much safer and easier to use the port hinchinbrook marina ramp,big ramp, pontoon plenty of parking and deep water.

The Cardwell ramp at Port Hinchinbrook is all weather all tide for your boat. A must see is Creek 3 in Missionary Bay. Watch out for the rocks in the left arm. If the weather is nice then drag some deep divers or Wolfies around Eva Island. Great for Macks. Got one 35kg there last September. Also, if the weather is good then head out to the Brook Islands for a snorkel, beautiful but a green zone. MAybe go there after a morning fish at Eva. Of course if the weather is terrible you can easily head into the channel and catch crabs and creek fish. Check at www.seamedia.com.au for their fishing Hinchinbrook publication. It's pretty good.
