    Hey
Berkley vanish aint a mono line.. Its a flurocarbon..
You are probably better of fishing with flurocarbon instead of normal mono for SP fishing. But braid is the best.. any reason why you dont want to use braid?

    Cheers

    G'day
Yes mike, no harm in using the vanish up front.

Why not run some very small platinum with vanish leader?

That is exactly what I do.

f you are really looking for something different and a bit of fun, try using 2 kg or even 1 kg mono for your SPs. I use mainly Platypus pretest. Hell of alot of fun trying to stop a good fish on 1 or 2 kg line!!!

Before I switched to light braids I was always a big fan of platinum and still use it for leaders occasionally.

    Cheers Dave.

Just a second thought, why not try the platypus lo-stretch? It's a mono with the non stretch of braid

Have a look at the comparable weight/diameter ratio in each - I'd guess that Platypus Super 100 would be right down there too. I haven't used anything all that light, but I've got 12lb on a 4000 symetre and a Alvey 600B and really like it.

    Good luck,
    Mike

The new platypus low stretch looks as though it may work good for sp's and for ppl who dont like braid

    Re: Best Light Mono

You might want to have a look at the Platypus Super 100 as well. It's about 8% thinner than the Platinum for the same breaking strain.
