I love lunch time at Ballina

Had a spare hour between meetings on Friday arv so slipped down to one of my favourite tailor spinning stones for some R&R. The swell had picked up a little and it looked a little to rough for my 7ft live fibre and 2kg string but hey its all fun and I was there so had a throw anyway. The small metal slice landed about 35m out and 2 cranks later I was on. A little bigger than the ones I’d jumped off a day or so earlier and definitely a hand full on 2kg string off the stones. After 5 minutes and some anxious moments a larger than average wave deposited 57cm and 2.3kg of chopper not far from my feet.
Managed another of about a kilo and a bit 5 minutes later and by that time the gutter I was fishing had all but disappeared under a sandy foaming mess. Slipped up to the Westie and found Muzz (onerabbit) for a quick ale then back to it.

Great fish off the stones with 2kg mate - youre a better fisherman than me Gunga Din. I'm sure I couldn't manage that on such light line.

I've been staying at a mate's place on the river minding his house while he's OS. Been chasing crabs in my poly and fishing off his jetty with a beer in hand. Not much success with the crabs and fish, but managing a good tally of beers.

Back to house reno's on wednesday and only occasional stays in ballina.

G'day Tony, had to swap choppers for hoo sea just not co-operating...not quite the same. Its a bit of a cheat claiming it as a 2kg line class capture as the 2-4 kg flick stick I use flattens out at times with the 2kg braid I run. I rekon it breaks closer to 6kg. Still good fun.
Fishing with beer in hand. Hope your not putting any bait on the hook. Nothing worse than a fish spoiling a cold beer.
If your about I'll give you a call Tuesday and try and catch up for a quiet beer at the Westie about 2ish.
