No, just a 20" mono trace and deal with the odd bite off. I think the secret is in the speed you wind at, anything less than flat out gives the macs a better chance of a bite off (or they recognize your lure for what it is and don't bite)

You're not the only one SS - esp when floating out pillies... I was chatting to a mate at a well known Brissie Tackle shop yesterday who said it doesn't matter what 'lb' mono you use - if they're going to bite through there's just nothing you can do - except use wire but you won't get the fish... Catch 22!! He did suggest rigging the pillie through the top with the top hook entering the head between the eyes and nose...

i have also been told when floating pillies have the top hook empty/showing.
havent tried it yet to tell you if it works
