There's more big runs happening again, and this is a good result too, well done. Who's going to get the next 80+ cm fish? Good chance it will be you Silent, here's hoping.

    Heya Alleycat

1/0 sounds too small to me but I don't fish plastics. I would try going up in hook size, even an undersized snap will inhale a 3/0 without any problem. Might find a softer part of the mouth and the slightly larger diameter might make it less likely to tear.

Targeting small snaps I use 3/0's and step up to 6/0 an 7/0's when targeting better fish, but that is with bait.

Silent is not so SILENT anymore!!! Good work champ!

ALLEYCAT, step up to 3/0's as a minimum in the TT's with a a 'H' rating ie 3/0H (H= Hardwire). In winter when the fish are in greater numbers, i step-up to 5/0's. Similar to STRADDIE, when using baits, minimum 3/0's all the way up to 7/0's depending on baits being used. Hope this helps...

I'm no expert but it is recommended you set the drag to 1/3rd the breaking strain of the main line.
I always set my drags this way and have never had a problem with bust offs when a fish hits the plastic.
Many people tighten there drags during a fight and not knowing when that breaking point may happen you lose a good fish.
    Cheers Brent
Ps ;Very nice feed of squire there Silent
